With "To Love A Tea Witch" being deep in edits and revisions, I was really starting to get an itch to publish something. I've read about publishing for so long, and all I've ever wanted to do was get a book in someone else's hands, but right now, it seems so far away.
So, I came up with an idea! I am going to write some shorts/novellas!
.... but why?
Well, I love writing. I love stretching my writing muscle and coming up with new characters and stories to tell. Plus, it will give me a great way to put my work into the public's hands while still trying out self publishing with something a little smaller than a full on novel. At first, I just thought that my shorts and novellas would be something for me, just little writing exercises and whatnot, but I think that publishing them on Amazon will really work in my favor!
So, my debut short in the paranormal romance world will be called "The Master's Apprentice." This short is about 20k words long as of this writing and follows a young witch named Lily. She is finishing her studies in the magical world, and that involves being an apprentice to a master. The academy has paired her with Master Jorah, a quiet recluse, but a brilliant sorcerer in his own right. But when Lily's feelings toward her master begin to grow, the pair has to fight against their ever-growing attraction, lest they give in and Lily gets expelled from the academy in the 11th hour!
And here's the cover!
I am so excited about this sweet, quick story! It should be dropping on Amazon soon (omg!) and I cannot wait for it to get into everyone's hands! This is a literal dream come true! I'm just breathless thinking about it!
But the work on "Tea Witch" has not stopped! I have finished my own edits and should be done with all of the changes very soon. After that, the book will be off to my editor! Once it's back, I'll go over it a second time, then the story should be... ready...! Like I said before, this process is taking a lot longer than I originally anticipated, but I am so glad that I am taking my time. I'd rather put out an excellent book a little bit later than put out a mediocre book in a rush.
Next time you hear from me, I'll be a *published author* with a title under my name!
It's here! It's here! The proof copy of "To Love A Tea Witch" is in my hands and ready for an edit!
I'm not going to lie, but I got a little emotional looking at this bad boy. Seeing my name on the cover, seeing my words in print and feeling the weight of the book in my hands... It got to me. I've wanted this for so long and I've been working on Sydney Birch's story for so long. It was just such a good feeling to have that all come to fruition.
I've started reading through the story and doing some small edits as I go. If you dont remember, I originally started this book by writing in first person through Sydney's POV, but by about chapter seven, I was struggling. I ended up editing it to third person POV and the story flowed so much better for me. However, my first bits of editing have showed me that I missed a LOT. I have only managed to make it through the first two chapters of the book and my pages are already filled with notes and edits.
But I am really excited about the process! It's nice knowing that I can look over my work and make it better. I'm going to finish these edits before I send the second draft off to my editor, which should hopefully net me a better result! And after one final go-through, I will feel completely confident in publishing this work!
Now, last time I made a blog post, I was talking about publishing "Tea Witch" in December. Looking at how much work the editing process is going to take, that's absolutely unfeasible. I know that if I take my time and give this story the work that it deserves, then once it is published, I will have put out the best product possible. And that's my ultimate goal: I want to entertain and make people fall in love.
As of right now, I am aiming for March for publishing this book to Amazon. I want to make sure that this book is the perfect view into my skill, and I want to make sure that I give Sydney and Caleb the justice that they deserve.
In the meantime, I am planning on releasing some shorts/novellas in the next little bit to test the publishing waters and get folks excited for Tea Witch! So, check back soon because the first short should be dropping before you can turn around!
Just me, a paranormal romance author with big dreams and even bigger crushes!
