Okay, so... I cheated. >.<
I started working on my story!
I just couldn't help it, you guys! I've been dying to get started on my NaNoWriMo project. I've worked and worked on my outlines, writing the story out in so many different ways that I know it inside and out at this point. And I couldn't help myself!
So, I've started writing. I am a few chapters into the story at this point and I LOVE where it is going! Sydney just wants to belong somewhere. She wants her place in the world. And I'm so happy to help her find it. I'm excited about the progress on the story so far, and I think I am ready to share it with the world.
I have published the first chapter of To Love A Tea Witch on Wattpad!
It's free to read, of course, and my current goal is to have a new chapter up every Wednesday and Saturday! So, two chapters a week, a nice, slow burn as I work through the story. I'm excited to get some feedback on it, which will hopefully help set my story on the right path.
So, go check it out! Give the first chapter a read and keep tuning in for new chapters twice a week!
Here's the link for Wattpad!
And if you are enjoying the story, feel free to buy me a coffee at Ko-Fi!
Now that I have plotted "To Love a Tea Witch" using the save the Cat method, it's time to plot it using another method.
Yes, I know, it seems a bit redundant to plot the same story twice, but bear with me here.
I like using the Save the Cat model because I love story beats. I want to ensure that no matter what, I am telling a proper story and hitting the beats that mean the most to me.
But I need to do something else, too.
I need to break my beats down by chapter.
I am the kind of writer who needs to know what is coming in the next chapter. I am 100% a plotter, and without a detailed map on where to turn next, I quickly get lost.
So, I have been taking my beats from Save the Cat and turning them into chapters! So far I am about a quarter of the way through the story, and it's been a blast to put this bad boy together. Seeing Sydney's story fully fleshed out as she tries to find her place inside a strange, magical town just makes me smile.
And my goodness, it makes me wish that October would pass by quicker!
With only a few more weeks until NaNoWriMo officially begins, my excitement seems to be bubbling over at this point! I am very much a tea kettle, just seconds away from singing. It's taking everything in me not to go ahead and jump in face-first into this story, but I am *somehow* able to hold off!
Next time we talk, I'll be preparing myself to take on the marathon of writing 50k words in a month!
