Now that NaNo is over for 2020, what in the world am I doing with my time?
Well, folks, now that "To Love A Tea Witch" has finished up its first draft, it's time for the real work to begin! At the moment, the story is resting and I am giving my brain a break from Sydney and Caleb's crazy love story. However, I am receiving my very first author proof copy (!!!) next week, which I will be using to edit my story. I like to edit physical copes of my work, instead of trying to edit on a screen, so Amazon's author proofs are perfect for this!
The story will go through one good round of line edits and story edits. I have been getting some feedback from readers on RoyalRoad who have expressed their thoughts and ideas on my characters and I'm excited to make a few changes to the story as a result. I have also added in quite a few scenes to the beginning and middle, which are not going to be posted online, and I need to make sure that they flow well with the rest of the work.
And after that, this bad boy will be off to my editor! She will be looking it over for mistakes in grammar and things like that, so hopefully the second pair of eyes will help see anything that I have missed.
While I wait to receive the physical copy of my draft, I've decided to take that time and get started on the next story coming from Thistlewood! Alexis Cohen is a strange character, over enthusiastic and a little weird, and she really throws off Sydney when she meets the coven, but Alexis has so much more to her. She's curious and studious and incredibly smart about all subjects that she's interested in. And if you've read any of my story on RoyalRoad or Wattpad, you know that Alexis is interested in other worlds and other planes of existence!
So, of course I started writing her story! I'm really excited to see where its going as the characters in Thistlewood head into some REAL paranormal drama! And hey, maybe there's a little bit of love on the side, too!
And as for 2021...
2021 will be the year that I move into self publishing!
"To Love a Tea Witch" will be my first release as soon as it has went through its rounds of edits. I am hoping to be able to put it on Amazon sometime after Christmas or in the month of January. Alexis's story will follow when it is ready, and then onward! I cannot wait to see my books for sale on Amazon and get those sweet paperbacks in my hands!
For now, I'm just waiting to edit Tea Witch while I wander through Alexis's story.
Remember, if you want to read the (very) rough draft of "Tea Witch," you can find it on Wattpad and RoyalRoad! And make sure to follow me on Twitter for news on upcoming chapters!
It's December 1st and NaNoWriMo 2020 is in the books. It was a rough month, with my numbers going up and down with every day. Some days were fantastic, others were a little less than perfect, but I was able to write words every single day! No days with 0 words written!
So, did I win?
I won my first NANOWRIMO!!
You have no idea how excited I am over this win. Not only did I finish the month off strong with over 50,000 words written, but I was also able to completely finish "To Love A Tea Witch!' The first draft of the novel is done and in the books! I actually went ahead and uploaded it to Amazon to get that sweet, sweet author proof so I can start edits as soon as it comes in! But for now, the story is in the bed and I'm taking some time to relax...
Just kidding! No relaxing here! I actually got the idea for the second story in the series that I am calling "The Thistlewood Witches," and it focuses on Alexis, the slightly manic goth girl who is part of Sydney's coven who has a *slight* obsession with demons and other planes of existence. I actually spent the last day of NaNo working on that follow up novel, plotting it and getting ready to dive into it. I am just as excited for Alexis's love story as I am for Sydney's love story, and I am thinking about giving it a twist at the end! We will see where I go with it!
For now, I'm noodling around with this new story while waiting on my author proof to arrive from Amazon. Sydney's story is going to get some in-depth edits before it hits the market, but I am hopeful that I can get it on Amazon and in your kindle by the end of December or the first bit of January! Fingers crossed!
And that's the end of my NaNoWriMo journey! I am planning on writing along with Camp NaNo in April, so I'll have more updates then. And hopefully life will slow down and I can complete it with a little more consistency!
Happy writing, friends! Next time I see you, I'll have my author copy in my hands!
Just me, a paranormal romance author with big dreams and even bigger crushes!
